The prototype was completed in January 1962 in Surrey, England.
Its chassis was air-freighted to Los Angeles on 2 February 1962.
The first V8 installation took less than eight hours.
The first 75 cars used a 4.3-litre (260 cu in) V8.
The next 51 used a larger 4.7-litre (289 cu in) version.
The later big-block car used a 7.0-litre (427 cu in) engine rated at 425 hp.
